European Vacation 2011- Part 1, Edition 1

Summer is in full swing and the French Riviera is buzzing with the arrival of the “Rich and Famous” for it’s annual fete featuring the best boats parties, 100 bottles of Cristal gifting at Les Caves du Roy and Day and Night Beach Party at Stefano’s.

It’s my third year here in St. Tropez, twice this year and I am hooked.

My S.O (Significant Other) and I departed NYC/JFK on the 5:55pm Delta Flight direct to Nice, France. This is the only direct flight and there’s one a day. 8.5 hours later at 8:30am local time we arrived; escorted through customs, grabbed our luggage and 30 minutes later via Helicopter arrived in the enchanting village of St. Tropez. Most famous for the discovery of icon Bridgette Bardot.

The Byblos Hotel is THE place to stay, your second best option is Chateau de la Messardiere. I have had the privilege of staying at both and if you want to be in the middle of the action I highly recommend the Byblos. Chateau de la Messardiere is gorgeous, the grounds of the hotel is enchanting and the service is exceptional. It’s 15 minutes from town and they provide a shuttle to and from town free of charge, however it’s 30 Euros one-way to all destinations if the shuttle is unavailable. Messardiere is the quiet, classy, romantic option.

The Byblos is located in town, steps away from the port and some premium shopping including Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Hublot (for you watch fanatics). Place des Lices is the square where most tourist congregate for a game of Baci ball and taste of the famous Tart Tropiezienne.
The disco Les Caves du Roy located at The Byblos and VIP Room located at the Port are the standard establishments for debauchery. The Byblos pool also a great place for people watching, its what dreams are made off, the fashion, the jewelry are the best anywhere.

  1. The entry to the Byblos Hotel from town, stairs leading to Spoons, Alain Ducasse’s Restaurant and the pool bar.
  2. The pool and colorful facade of the hotel
  3. Nightly scene at the pool. View from the Riviera Suite; rooms 301-304

Including Spoons, the other established dinner restaurants are Chateau de la Messardiere (wine list to die for) Villa Romana, Joseph & Le Grand Joseph, Le Strand, Cafe des Artes; for lunch the beach clubs are most popular – Le Club 55, Les Palmiers, La Voila Rouge and Nikki Beach.

  1. The showers at Club 55
  2. After 6pm at Club 55
  3. Victoria Flores and I outside Les Palmiers – Memorial Day, May 2011
  4. Les Palmiers Beach Club

  1. Les Caves du Roy at The Hotel Byblos
  2. 100 bottles of Cristal Champagne gifted to the Brazilians by the Pakistani’s (it’s what was said)
  3. Sunday’s at Nikki Beach
  4. The girls at Villa Romana
  5. Paris and Nikki Hilton at Papagayo Club

This is the lay of the land in St. Tropez during the last 2 weeks of July, it’s the time to be there. Hope you enjoyed this post and stay tuned for Part 1, Edition 2.

Have a happy day!
